LGBTQ+ Pride Month “Countering Injustice with Queer Joy”

This year’s LGBTQ+ Pride month has returned to its roots as a protest movement and strengthened Queer RESISTANCE. An increasing number of policies and laws here in Florida and across the U.S. adversely affect LGBTQ+—especially transgender—individuals rights, freedoms, and dignity. But what about Queer JOY? Lifting up the positive aspects of LGBTQ+ life is important for self-care and to counter the wave of injustices that shout from the headlines and political narrative.

Our guest speaker Allan Hendricks will give voice to Queer Joy by sharing his story about realizing his vision to open one of the nation’s first LGBTQ+ focused assisted living residences right here in Palm Beach County. The Connie House is a gay-owned and gay-operated 6-resident home that focuses on mind, body, and spirit wellness with programs that offer age-affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ older adults.
