First Friday Film Festival (FFFF) “Women Talking”

FIRST FRIDAY FILM FESTIVAL
Friday, May 5th – beginning at 5:30 P.M.

Women Talking was nominated as a Best Film by this year’s Oscar – it won as best adapted screen play.  The story focuses on a Mennonite Community in which the women over many years were repeatedly raped.  The film does not depict the rapes.  The men of the community have gone to town to “bail” out the rapist – leaving the women alone.  This is the heart of the film – a group of perhaps twelve women discussing what they should do; stay, fight, or leave.

It is a “talking” film – with much to listen to and ponder.

Minister’s Hall opens at 5:30 p.m. – with a potluck meal beginning about 6:00 p.m. and the film at 7:00 p.m.  If you would like to join us for the pot luck – bring what you like.  If you would like some wine with your meal – we ask that you bring it to share.  If you are only able to join us for the film – that would be great as well.
