Culture is to humans what water is to fish. Fish don’t know what water is, because they don’t know what water isn’t.

Cultural proscriptions are so endemic that we’re unaware we’re following them. We can think, “this is what it is and that’s all there is to it.”

Though human beings are inherently growthful, most do not reach self-actualization. Fear of the unknown takes precedence.
