Natalie Lederer (2/05/27 – 7/08/26)

Natalie Irene Lederer (nee Mattson), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, relative, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2026, after a short illness.

Born in Bessemer, MI, Natalie was the first in her family to go to college. It was at the University of Michigan that she met and married Creighton Lederer, her loving husband of 73 years. She majored in English literature and was briefly a schoolteacher before she started a family with Creighton in Detroit, MI.

Natalie loved life and was creative to her core, finding joy in cooking, gardening, nature, painting, sewing, and all manner of craft. In addition to raising five children, Natalie was active in the League of Women Voters, the Audubon Society, the Unitarian Churches in Grosse Pointe, MI and West Palm Beach, FL, and was a longtime docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit, MI and the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach, FL.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Laura Lederer, Carrie Lederer, Robert Lederer, Sara Lederer-Weertz, and Lisa Lederer; grandchildren, Lianna, Jenna, Tommy, Emma, Abraham, Andrew, and Matthias; great-grandchildren, Kye and Violet; sister, Helen Griffiths; and brothers Walter and Irwin Mattson. She was predeceased by her husband, Creighton Lederer, in August 2023.

An online Celebration of Life will be held by the family in the coming months. Donations may be made in Natalie’s name to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
