In Memoriam: Arnold Bailey “Chip” Chapin (1931-2022)

We have learned that one of our former members, Chip Chapin has died. We celebrate his life with this remembrance, authored by Chip himself:

Arnold Bailey “Chip” Chapin 1931-2022, died peacefully on January 23rd, 2022. Chip was born in Syracuse, New York and was a long time resident of New York, NY, Palm Beach, FL, and Jupiter, FL. He is survived by sisters Carol Sawyer and Marie Plumley, and daughter Carol Chapin.

Chip was genetically lucky and blessed by genealogy. An average student, distracted by girls and sports, he muddled through high school and college. He tried his hand at the ministry, teaching, and marketing, gaining some success with the last.

He married his high school sweetheart, fathered two children and gave it up, as well as second, third, and fourth marriages. An average tennis player, he acquired a tennis teaching certificate, showing that anyone can do it with effort.

If remembered for anything, may it be his responsible and supportive behavior to both friends and acquaintances, and his disinterest in formal recognition, such as this.
