Announcing the formation of the
Racial Justice Subcommittee!
Meeting via Zoom on Saturday,
February 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM
“We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King
We are pleased to announce the re-establishment of JAM’s Racial Justice Subcommittee. We are compelled by our UU Principles as well as recent events in our country to understand our role in a white supremacy culture and take action to dismantle it.
The areas we will focus on are:
1. Education – to offer opportunities for our congregation to become more informed around the issues of racial justice and intersectionality. This can be accomplished through readings (e.g. books, essays, poems); movies and videos by and about prominent racial and social justice advocates; opportunities for us to explore new perspectives through dialogue and storytelling; and speakers from our Palm Beach and UU communities.
2. Introspection – to examine our internal policies, programs and procedures through a racial justice lens and explore new ways to apply our learning to how we “do church.”
3. Action – to inspire action from an anti-racist point of view such as partnering with other organizations that share our values and mission; finding out how we can best help our neighbors and offering our members meaningful volunteer opportunities.

We will be planning events that all can participate in without having to attend planning meetings. We will meet you wherever you are!
