Environmental Justice: Big Money, Sugar Cane, and Racism

Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 1:30

Other countries have effectively banned sugar cane burning and found better ways to harvest sugar cane. While in Florida, Big Sugar continues to burn sugar cane fields despite the environmental and health issues of surrounding Black and POC communities.

Join us as Rev. David Lawlor, Co-Chair of UU Ministry for Earth, and keynote speaker, Dr. Rashid Shaikh, Co-Chair of UU BIPOC Caucus for Climate Justice, and a panel of 4-5 experts and activists, discuss the issue and what we can do to stop this injustice.
